AND STUDENTS PERCEPTIONS ON MOBILE LEARNING

Abstract

The main aim of this study was the investigation of the perceptions of teachers of all
specialties and students who participated in the European program Erasmus + KA229
entitled “innovation and Mobile Learning”, and code project 2018-1-EL01-KA229-
047747_1, from September 2018 to August 2020. The individual aims of the research were a) to record the teachers’ and students’ opinions on Mobile Learning and b) to ascertain the teachers’ differences of opinion with regard to gender c) to investigate the extent to which the activities of the program affect the abilities and skills of the participants related to mobile learning, d) the participants evaluate the main mobile learning applications used in the activities of the program. 30 teachers and 84 students from different schools of 5 countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Turkey and Italy) participated in the research, responding to a structured five-leveled Likert scale questionnaire, which was distributed via e-mail to them. From the factor analysis of the major components, three factors emerged: a) “M-Learning is appropriate for teaching and learning” (11 questions), b) “MLearning is proper for the communication between the teacher and student” (6 questions) and c) “M-Learning is suitable for personal use” (7 questions). The structural validity and reliability of the questionnaire for the Greek population was also ascertained. From the results, it was evident that both the teachers and students had a positive attitude towards Mobile Learning and they had the intention to use mobile devices in their teaching. However, a statistically significant difference in the participants’ opinions in relation to gender was not discovered.

After exchanges, we will likewise apply with them different exercises that we will see amid the exchange. They will answer the last questionnaire toward the finish of the project, to measure the level of interest, the improvement and the impact in their attitude

2. teachers – take part in gatherings organized by members after each exchange. They will be urged to utilize web tools in their present work with the help of the partaking teachers.

3. guardians – toward the start of the project and after the exchanges, there will be activities for dissemination during guardian gatherings .in special meetings participants’ guardians will be given a complete presentation of the project, obligations of students, expectations, measures for the safety of their children and so on.

4. Local community – we will endeavor to impact as many people as possible, through articles in the media, meetings with municipality representatives and authorities.
In order to communicate with these groups, we will likewise have Erasmus+ news on the school website, we will share dissemination materials online in professional networks for teachers and in school student groups. Students’ activities will be recorded and posted on YouTube, with the goal that everybody has full access to the outcomes.
There will be tangible materials to enable us to advance the project – flags, rollups, flyers, ebulletins, Erasmus+ space in each school. At a territorial level, instructors will scatter the outcomes in special teachers’ meetings at regional and local level, to educational consultants and so on. At a national level, the participating educators will disseminate the results of the project in magazines and sites for educators, Twitter and Facebook groups.
